Project Green Village
The project consists of 15 buildings. Click on each building to see the conceptual PDF drawings for each building.

The Native Trees will be a part of the development

The 15 Acres Site is The Home of Many Palm Trees.

The Beautiful Site Features Old Trees, Forests Views, and Green as far as the eyes can see.
We are in the process of registering a non for profit organization: Imagine Green Design Non-Profit Corporation in Dominican Republic. The Mission of the organization is planning sustainable small villages for the underprivileged families of the pueblos in the Dominican Republic. We will design and development micro-villages with housing for a maximum of 10 families, vegetable gardens, community cafeteria, school, health center, and community open space. We are in the process of planning the pilot plan Phase One Project "Monte Plata Green Village"

The design concept is to build small one story edifices creating the feeling of a small village community. The project will seek LEED certification from the World Green Building Council. The village will sit on 15 acres of beautiful land filled with native old trees. The village will be design with sustainable materials, and techniques, using advanced assembly procedures, and long lasting structures. The buildings designed will feature renewable energy (active solar system with photovoltaic panel and batteries storage capacity to last at least one day). The buildings are designed with water savings systems, rainwater collection, formaldehyde-free kitchen and shower units. A site with sustainable landscaping the use of native-species planting scheme by minimizing any impact on the sites flora and fauna. Reduced construction waste will be managed and recycled.
Measures were taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact. The existing typography was taken into account, and the buildings are integrated into the terrain. Other ecological advantages include the bioclimatic design, which allows each building to take full advantage of both passive solar energy as a natural light source and cross ventilation for cooling during the hot summer months in the Dominican Republic
The conceptual architecture design uses simple lines emulating the rustic style of country homes. The designs are subtle unpretentious and harmonious with the surrounding campo (word meaning rural, folk country, simple). The seamless unity between the village concept and the natural landscape become a whole, a one. The design addresses with solutions the climates humidity, heat and soil conditions.

This Land is Blessed with Natural Growing Flowers, picture taken during the morning due.
The Project is nestled among flamboyant, palm, and almendra (almond) trees. It is a complex of buildings linked to each other creating a village (pueblo) style community, with a central rectangular courtyard. The courtyard is a vegetable/herb garden. The view from the highest point creates a clear unobstructed view of the entire village. The town square will be used as a recreation area. At the center of the square sits a gazebo with an octagonal shape, it is the perfect place to reflect, study or just take in the breezes and enjoy the shaded area.
The village is connected by walkways purposely created human scale, children playing around the buildings, and the sports area. During the rainy season the community and the children can gather at the gazebo and not miss out on the fun. This area can also be used to entertain the community with childrens plays, folk dancing, and other cultural activities. The space can also be used for such as weddings, baptism and or any other social gatherings.
The North sides of the buildings are designed to capture the soft breezes while the south side is protected from the hot sun with thick insulated panels and less windows. The buildings have no air-conditioning system, so the dwellings position, high window for hot air to escape is responsible for cool convection air currents and cross ventilation. The shapes of roof system truncated pyramid, designed for passive cooling. The highest point of the roof system has windows throughout each edifice to passive cool and ventilate as the heat raises naturally existing through the high windows.
The harvesting of rains waters will be canalized towards a large underground cistern. The water is collect through downspouts from the gutters system on the roof. This water will be stored for human consumption and domestic use (laboratories, washing, and drinking. In this area of the roof the tinacos (water storage) will be placed on the flat part of the roof. This water will travel to the faucets by gravity without the need for electric pumps, thus saving electricity. Rainwater runoff from the roof garden, driveway, and parking area (if we use asphalt) is collected and allowed to seep back into the natural terrain. This will only be done during the dry season in Monte Plata.
The buildings designed with hip roofs and truncated form in the center of the roof system. This system will allow for passive cooling, the heat will rise and exit the windows located on the truncated roof. The roof area will be painted with a high reflected ceramic material which not only deflect the heat from the roof area but it will also function as a sound insulator, and does not allow the infiltration of water. The solar panels will be installed at the south side of the buildings, not on the roofs but on the ground. The solar photovoltaic panels will produce enough electricity for the buildings to use 0 , the site will not be connected to the Local Electric Company. There will be solar panels for heating the water.
